Voyage Care has acquired Orchard Healthcare Group, which runs 23 care homes across Central and Northern England. The homes offer residential, nursing, dementia and respite care.
Voyage Care supports more than 3,500 people across the UK, including people with a learning disability, autistic people and those with brain injuries and complex needs.
Voyage Care Chief Executive Mike McKessar said both organizations share common ground in specialist, person-centered care delivered in the community. He said each group focuses on helping people with complex needs live fulfilling lives.
McKessar said Orchard’s Reconnect model meets a significant and growing need in complex dementia and mental health care. He called it a high-quality model built on the same principles that guide Voyage Care. He said the company has real confidence in Orchard’s expertise and colleagues, and that together they can share learning and support more people.
Orchard Chief Executive Hayden Knight called the deal a transformational step for both companies. He said Orchard will keep its established purpose and identity while playing a pivotal role in the group’s future growth.
Knight said the shared commitment to high-quality care makes the match a natural fit. He said the combined organization will have more chances to invest, innovate and improve outcomes for the people it supports. Connell Consulting produced the vendor commercial due diligence on the transaction.
