Background
GE HealthCare has signed a 10-year partnership worth about $500 million with Catholic Health to modernize the health system’s imaging and radiology services across Long Island, New York.
The agreement, called the Care Alliance, is one of GE HealthCare’s largest strategic partnerships in the United States. It’s geared to modernizing the radiology setup at Catholic Health through advanced imaging technologies, artificial intelligence, and cloud-based digital processes.
As part of this arrangement, Catholic Health will increase its offering of advanced MRI, CT, PET, and nuclear imaging capabilities. Catholic Health will also acquire hundreds of new ultrasounds and contrast-enhanced mammography technology. In addition to that, it will use the Imaging 360 cloud solution by GE HealthCare for its radiology workflow.
The upgrades will be carried out across Catholic Health’s 40 clinical locations. Around half of the new equipment and technology installations are expected to be completed within the first three years of the partnership, with some installations beginning in the coming months. In total, nearly 1,300 pieces of equipment and technology upgrades will be introduced across the health system.
Catholic Health said the partnership reflects its commitment to improving healthcare delivery through innovation. The organisation expects the combination of its clinical expertise and GE HealthCare’s advanced imaging, artificial intelligence, and digital technologies to support more precise diagnosis, improve access to specialised services closer to patients, and create a smoother experience for both patients and healthcare professionals.
