Background

MH Week Hong Kong 2026 was organized by the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC). It was a segment of Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026 with the theme Healing Meets Hospitality. The week witnessed the participation of some of the most excellent healthcare organizations in Malaysia meeting one of the world’s shrewdest and most sophisticated consumers.

Hong Kong is one of the most sophisticated places with a good number of elites. As such, it is the best place for healthcare services targeting sophisticated consumers. With the growing trend of Malaysian healthcare receiving Chinese healthcare travelers, the importance of engaging Hong Kong becomes an added value. Healthcare travel revenue from China is also expected to exceed RM200 million for the first time last year and is projected to grow by more than 20 per cent per year for the next three years, at an average rate of 31 per cent. The momentum was continued this year, as first-quarter revenue and traveller volume increased 23 percent and 17 percent, respectively.

MHTC’s CEO Suriaghandi Suppiah said the programme provided the healthcare providers in Malaysia with a great chance to interact with a very informed audience, who are very conscious of the quality, trust and service excellence standards. He said that Hong Kong is a sophisticated market with growing expectations on the part of consumers.

Leading Malaysian healthcare institutions participated, such as those in cardiology, oncology, fertility, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and preventive health screening. The hospitals that participated were able to network and engage in business with consumers, facilitators, insurers, and referral partners. The participants were IHH Group, KPJ Damansara Specialist Hospital, KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital and Alpha IVF & Women’s Specialist.

The Ministry of Health, Malaysia (MHTC), created in 2009, is responsible for the development of the Malaysia Healthcare brand, with a total of 82 member hospitals across the country.
