Astana Hub has launched MedHub HAQ, a nonprofit infrastructure initiative designed to accelerate the development of medical artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
The platform offers a secure framework for putting anonymized medical data to work in developing, testing and deploying AI-driven healthcare solutions, uniting healthcare providers, universities, physicians, researchers, AI developers and medtech startups.
Participants gain access to anonymized datasets, clinical validation of AI solutions, model testing and support through implementation in medical practice. A key initiative under MedHub HAQ is an accelerator program for medtech startups, offering access to anonymized medical data, AI testing infrastructure, industry expertise and support in scaling products.
The first three startups admitted to the accelerator, e-Osmotr, Teri AI and Neuro Guard, are building solutions for digital medical examinations, dermatological diagnostics and stroke detection.
Astana Hub plans to grow an ecosystem of more than 150 startups and launch around 100 pilot AI projects with healthcare organizations in its first year.
Astana Hub Managing Director Tanat Uskembayev said building AI in medtech needs mature infrastructure connecting developers, the medical community, research bodies and government institutions, describing MedHub HAQ as a step toward that ecosystem.
MedHub HAQ founder Togzhan Kozhaly said successful medical AI depends on data, doctors, annotation, compliant processes and a clear path to implementation, not algorithms alone.
The initiative includes six components, MedEx for clinical data exchange, MedLabel for dataset annotation, MedVentures as a startup accelerator, MedAcademy for training, MedEvents for networking and MedAdvisory for consulting on AI and regulatory compliance.
The launch event closed with memorandums of cooperation signed between MedHub HAQ, universities and healthcare organizations to strengthen Kazakhstan’s Health AI infrastructure.
