Background

Nokia has teamed up with digital healthcare platform BeeHealthy to replace SMS passcodes with network-based verification that runs quietly in the background. The deal marks the first healthcare customer for Nokia’s Network as Code platform, opening a new use case for the company’s programmable network technology.

The partnership pairs Nokia’s telecom infrastructure with BeeHealthy’s platform, which lets healthcare organisations deliver patient and professional services online.

BeeHealthy, owned by European healthcare provider Mehiläinen, operates as a white-label software platform used by healthcare and veterinary providers, social-care organisations and insurers across Finland, Sweden, Germany, Estonia, the Netherlands and the United Arab Emirates.

Nokia’s Network as Code platform gives businesses a single interface to access network capabilities from participating operators and build them directly into their own applications.

Shkumbin Hamiti of Nokia said the partnership shows how network capabilities can become commercial services that add value across an entire ecosystem. He said the same model could extend beyond healthcare, with Nokia already spotting opportunities in finance, mobility and digital commerce.

Beyond verification, Nokia and BeeHealthy are integrating SIM swap detection to flag changes that could affect patient records, along with location verification to help cut missed appointments. The companies are also exploring identity checks for onboarding and quality-on-demand features for video consultations.

BeeHealthy CEO Oskari Eskola said the integration will make access faster and more secure for the providers and insurers the platform serves.
